This really is the Rolls Royce of decking!
Balau hardwood decking is really suited to a country with a climate like ours as it is so hard-wearing, knot-free and very pleasing to the eye with its different shades of orangey browns.
Balau has anti-slip properties, which were originally used for marine decks where water was a problem and also has a natural built-in resistance to fungal decay and insect attack.
Balau is a tropical hardwood. This is a very tight-grained wood, hence very hard-wearing and durable.
This Balau has waxed ends to stop splitting and is also kiln-dried. Don't let anyone tell you this isn't important with Balau. It's critical! Beware of other outlets selling 'Sub-Standard' Balau!
Spax woodscrews should also be used to fasten it down as they will help to keep any splitting to a minimum.
Oh, and one last thing, please don't let your decking 'die'. It is extremely important that you maintain your hardwood decking; click here to read our full care guide. You're about to spend good money on your Hardwood Balau; you really MUST oil it. Using Ronseal Decking Oil will really bring the beautiful colours out of the wood, and it won't break the bank!
You can now order a sample, and we will endeavour to get it to you overnight.
Please Note: We recommend that you keep your Balau dry and away from moisture until it is time to lay it, as timber is a natural product and is subject to continual movement when exposed to atmospheric conditions. This may be evident with splits, shakes or warping. These are not considered to be a fault or defect. Please allow a small percentage for waste. The reverse side of the board may be smooth or ribbed.
In most cases, however, small imperfections are generally considered a typical feature of the species.
